He came to Colombia to learn Spanish and ended up finding something much harder to leave behind: Elizabeth.
Since then, their story has been a beautiful mix of love, airplanes, new cities, and a shared curiosity for the world. London, Bogotá, Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Washington, Chicago… and a list of countries that looks like it came straight out of an adventure map: Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Iceland, Guatemala, Mexico, Greece, Costa Rica, Peru, Kenya, Tanzania, and so many more.
Colombia wasn’t just where they met. It was the beginning of a life they’re still building together, a journey that has taken them around the world and, somehow, always brought them back here.
And how beautiful that they can now celebrate their story in the very place where, without really looking for it, it all began.
And here in Medellín, an amazing team of vendors came together to bring this celebration to life, and I was lucky enough to be behind the camera documenting it.

Él vino a Colombia a aprender español y terminó encontrando algo mucho más difícil de dejar atrás: an Elizabeth.
Desde entonces, su historia ha sido una mezcla preciosa de amor, aviones, mudanzas y ganas de descubrir el mundo juntos. Londres, Bogotá, París, Bruselas, Madrid, Washington, Chicago… y una lista de países que parece sacada de un mapa de aventuras: Tailandia, Vietnam, Camboya, Islandia, Guatemala, México, Grecia, Costa Rica, Perú, Kenia, Tanzania y muchos más.
Colombia no fue solamente el lugar donde se conocieron, fue el principio de una vida que todavía siguen construyendo, un viaje que los ha llevado por el mundo y, de alguna manera, siempre los ha traído de vuelta aquí.
Y qué bonito que ahora puedan celebrar su historia en el lugar donde, sin buscarlo demasiado, comenzó todo.
Y aquí, en Medellín, nos reunimos un increíble equipo de proveedores para hacer realidad esta celebración, y yo tuve la suerte de estar detrás de la cámara para documentarla.

Kathe y Ana se casaron en Villa de Leyva, uno de esos lugares que siempre tienen algo especial.
Tuve la fortuna de acompañarlas ese día y, aunque minutos antes de la ceremonia parecía que iba a llover, el clima nos dio una tregua. Al final salió una tarde espectacular, perfecta para celebrar su amor rodeadas de su familia y amigos.
Creo que esas son las bodas que más disfruto fotografiar: las que, incluso cuando parecen salirse del plan, terminan regalando momentos que nadie habría podido imaginar.

Kathe and Ana got married in Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia’s most magical places.
I had the privilege of documenting their wedding day, and although it looked like it was about to rain just minutes before the ceremony, the weather gave us a break. In the end, it turned into the most beautiful afternoon to celebrate with their family and friends.
Those are the weddings I enjoy photographing the most—the ones that don’t go exactly as planned but end up creating the most unforgettable moments.

Cata y César se conocían desde hace más o menos 20 años, la vida los llevó por caminos distintos y, cuando volvió a cruzarlos, un simple gesto, un toque en el brazo, fue suficiente para que sintieran esa conexión especial. Los acompañé en su matri a contar un nuevo capítulo en Cauca Viejo, Antioquia, un lugar tan bonito como su historia, rodeados del amor de familia y amigos.

Cata and César had known each other for almost 20 years. Life took them in different directions, and when it brought them back together, one simple gesture, a touch on the arm, was enough for them to feel that special connection. I had the honor of capturing their wedding day in Cauca Viejo, Colombia, a place as beautiful as their story, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Hay bodas que celebran un matrimonio, pero hay bodas que también envían un mensaje al mundo.
Ellas eligieron casarse en grande porque querían decirles a sus familias, a sus amigos y al mundo entero que su amor merece ser celebrado con la misma alegría, el mismo orgullo y la misma emoción que cualquier otro. Que el amor verdadero no tiene una única forma. Que lo que realmente importa es encontrar a esa persona que te hace sentir en casa y decidir construir una vida juntos siendo buenas personas.
Su ceremonia fue una de esas que te dejan un nudo en la garganta. No hubo una sola persona que no se emocionara escuchándolas. Y yo tuve el privilegio de viajar desde Medellín hasta Villa de Leyva, con un equipo talentoso al pueblo más hermoso de Colombia, para contar esta historia con nuestras imágenes.

Some weddings celebrate a marriage. Others also make a statement.
They chose to celebrate their wedding in a big way because they wanted their family, friends, and everyone around them to see that their love deserves the very same joy, recognition, and celebration as any other. Love doesn’t come in just one form. What truly matters is finding the person who feels like home and choosing each other every single day.
Their ceremony was deeply moving, filled with heartfelt words that left hardly a dry eye in the room. Traveling from Medellín to photograph their destination wedding in Villa de Leyva, Colombia, was an absolute honor. These are the stories that remind me why I do what I do: preserving real love, genuine emotion, and moments that deserve to be remembered forever.

Hay algo muy bonito que pasa cuando una pareja vuelve a casarse después de 18 años.
Ya no llegan imaginando cómo será la vida juntos.
Llegan sabiendo todo lo que fueron capaces de construir.
Llegan con los días fáciles y los difíciles. Con tres hijos, con sueños cumplidos, otros reinventados y la tranquilidad de saber que el amor no se sostiene solo en los momentos extraordinarios, sino, sobre todo, en los días más normales.
Antes de este día, Malala me dijo algo que definió por completo la forma en que quería recordar esta historia:
“En nuestra primera boda las fotos fueron más posadas. Esta vez quiero estar relajada y que se note la felicidad real del momento.”
Y creo que eso fue exactamente lo que pasó.

There’s something incredibly beautiful about a couple choosing to get married again after 18 years.
They’re no longer wondering what life together will be like.
They already know what they’ve built.
They arrive carrying both the joyful days and the difficult ones. Three children. Dreams they achieved, others they had to reshape, and the quiet certainty that love isn’t sustained by extraordinary moments alone, but even more by the ordinary ones.
Before this day, Malala told me something that completely shaped the way she wanted these memories to feel:
“Our first wedding photos felt much more posed. This time, I want to feel relaxed and let the photos show the genuine happiness of the moment.”
And I truly believe that’s exactly what happened.
